  • We had both our pet rats euthanized here due to age and mammary tumors on separate occasions. The first experience was better than the second but nonetheless was good overall. Note that if you're having your small rodent euthanized here, insist on them using an acrylic box and isoflurane to anesthetize first before giving an abdominal injection. If they say they will do an intracardiac injection (directly into the heart) insist on them using isoflurane and abdominal injection. The first time, the preferred euthanasia method was used without a problem, the second time, the front desk person said neither they nor anyone else knew about the acrylic box, so after settling on them using a mask to anesthetize our rat (out of our view, which added stress to the process), they eventually did find the box in the pre-op room. Both times we were allowed to view the whole procedure and have the rats die in our arms. Cost was a few dimes over 32 dollars for pets under 1 pound without cremation.
