| - This school is nowhere near what it should be regarding academic levels. They will not give you the proper training you need in order to succeed in your career. I spent months in this school, and I can honestly tell you I learned very little for the amount I paid, and what I should have received. The first three months was all book work. When I signed up for the course I was given a pamphlet stating what my tuition money would be used for(Books, use of equipment, supplies, and a graduation kit). We got our books after the two week trial period. It's really difficult to study for a test when you have no books to take home or have to share one with other students. We had tests that first week and didn't have a lot of time to study. Our teacher was not at all professional nor understanding with our concern. After we got our books it was a little more manageable to study. All we did for those three months was read through our book and take tests. We did some lessons which included learning how to wax and give a basic facial. That was it! There was no extensive training or information that we got. We never were trained on micro-dermabrasion, LED light therapy, or chemical peels. We only got the very basic training, and we were forced in only learning about the wellness/relaxing part of Esthetics because that's all our teacher knew. There is so much more to Esthetics than that. For the rest of the three months when we would service clients. We sat and watched youtube for most of those three months. They never marketed the Esthetic program, people didn't even know that we did facials or full body waxing. Half of the time we couldn't perform services or give the right treatment due to the fact we didn't have certain products. They also did not prepare the treatment rooms well enough for several students. We had one towel warmer and 4 treatment rooms that had to be shared with 7 students. Eventually we got a couple towel warmers and facial steamers a month before graduation. Again very basic material, and it should have been given to us much earlier in the program. Our teacher played favorites and divided us by race. It put a lot of tension between our group. When anyone had a concern we would go to the President of the school. He would listen to us, tell us that he intends to do something about it, and he will keep us updated. Those concerns seemed to be swept under the rug. To me it felt like he would promise things in order to get us to stop asking about it. Also, they will not provide you with a State Board Kit. YOU have to make it and spend your own money to create it. My tuition money was suppose to pay for a graduation kit, supplies, ect. and unfortunately that money was never used for anything more than books. I have graduated and started a career. I still have not received a graduation kit as most students do from other schools. I paid for it with my tuition. Even after sending countless emails to the President of the school, and providing proof that my tuition money was used to pay for a kit, still nothing has been done. I am frustrated that I have had to put up with so much crap from this school. Being there was one of the worst times of my life. On top of the other problems I was also breaking out in full body hives during my time at the school and constantly felt sick to my stomach. It didn't go away until after I graduated and was out of the building for more than 2 weeks. A lot of students were having some type of reaction to the school building. Something in the building is causing allergic reactions and needs to be tested. Also they did not take proper disinfectant and sanitation seriously when I was there. It is a sorry excuse for a school and it will not help in advancing your career. There are plenty of other schools that will accommodate you much better and are worth your money.
UPDATE:
Since I have posted this review, the President contacted me and sent me a graduation kit. I still feel that this kit is not worth what I had to go through in order to get it. Most of the items would be used for state board. I don't feel the quality is at all for professional use and it's cheap. Although, I do appreciate the effort that was made.
