This is not a REAL W Hotel. They converted one of the SLS Towers to a W, and the rooms, spaces, service, etc are seriously lacking. It clearly shows that this is not a W, and it's a shame Starwood would even consider doing this. The rooms were previously advertised as SLS rooms before changing to the W.
If your are platinum, you can forget any recognition of it or upgrade. They will stuff you in the back side with a view of a high crime area. The rooms are made of cheap materials and are just plain weird. The shower has a window into the room, hopefully you don't have any guests along for a peep show. And the room curtain? Don't even get me started.
The platinum breakfast credit is a positive. It's basically $30 to the Northside Cafe, and their food is pretty decent for casual food.
The W Hotel pool is nice, but don't expect anyone to be there. It's like a ghost town.
Overall, Starwood should shut this failed science experiment down and create a W where they can truly design the experience as it should be.
