| - This is foodie heaven in a quaint little house setting in old Cleveland. I came here fully intending to have the cassoulet which everyone (except one shamefully unadventurous purist) loved. That said, the specials of the day tore me away from that plan. Jamie, our server gets top honors among wait staff, not only for her excellence in service, but for her mouthwatering descriptions of the food(s). And...with her peppy demeanor and sultry voice, I think she would make shoe leather sound appetizing. In this case, she was dead on target with her obviously well informed reviews. Clearly, she takes great pride in her work and in the quality of this restaurant.
The meal: The fennel soup was outstanding; the beef short ribs melted in the mouth and the caramel custard was off the charts extraordinary - not the same ol' creme broulee that is ubiquitous today. Paired with a nice right banc Merlot-based Bourdeaux from St. Emilion and I was totally satisfied. I still rue my failure to sample the many other tantalizing options on the menu, especially the foie gras, the terrine and, of course, the cassoulet. (Sigh) One has but one stomach. As a result, I'll have to find a way to return to the Cleveland area.
