I have been craving Indian food for a while. Haven't gone to any of the well known places in town until today. We were downtown and close to a few Indian restaurants and decided on Mt. Everest for lunch.
The minute I opened the door, the aroma of Indian spices welcomed me in. It brought back memories during my years in The UAE. The place looked clean, the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful....and the food was really good. They serve hot buttered naan with the meal. I requested garlic naan and they happily obliged. I excitedly went around the buffet to check what they had to offer. The first thing that caught my eye were the samosas. It was hot, freshly cooked and pretty good. More doughy than what I'm used to but still good. Then I see the chicken curry and goat curry in the very corner...boom! Be still my heart! Those two dishes didn't disappoint at all. The goat pieces were so tender and the gravy was addictive. The chicken curry was equally good. I couldn't stop dipping my naan in the gravy. The chutneys totally complimented the curries. I also tried their chicken tikka and their chicken tikka masala. They were ok. They also had about 4 vegetarian dishes but everything pales in comparison to the curries. For dessert I tried kheer and gulab jamun. Their kheer was refreshing and not overly sweet with a slight cardamom taste. Gulab jamun is good too but too sweet for my taste.
The place got pretty busy around 12ish. They had a lot of South Asian clientele which is a good sign. The owner, Prakash is nice and friendly. He was constantly making sure that our needs were met. We left happy and full.
Price for a lunch buffet : $10.99....definitely not bad!
I wish they served biryani during lunch but no worries. This place is definitely worth trying. We will be back!
