I'm so torn between 2 star and 3 star. I want to give 3 star, but it would ONLY get that extra star based on location. It is so beautiful up in Mt. Charleston. But it's not Mt. Charleston I'm reviewing. Check in is at 3pm, so imagine my surprise when I arrive at 4, that room is not ready. We booked the King Suite with the 2 porches on the 3rd floor. They tried putting us in a regular room on the first floor. We had to wait half hour to get our room. The manager Aaron said it would be worth the wait. I have to disagree. The room REEKED and I mean REEKED of soot. I dont know if they ever cleaned the flute out or what. It was horrible. First, when you walk into lodge all you smell is bacon. Then, when going up the stairs to the third floor, all you smell is that disgusting 1990 perfume Poison. EEEWWWW. Only to walk into a stinky smelly soot reeking room. The room was ok. The bathroom definitely needs to be updated. It was old and a little smelly. The grounds around the hotel are decent. They certainly could be better though. I'll be going back again and again to Mt. Charleston, but I wouldnt really recommend staying here. I'd rather just head back home.
