my first observation of this airport was that it is massive. and massively organized. north, south, east, west curbs for drop off/ pick up...A&B, C&B gates with separate security areas. *Didja know if your security line is packed, you can walk to the other and still get to your gate? They have connecting bridges :)
At the end of the day, an airport is an airport is an airport. but its the little things that make some distinguishable.
most impressive factor to me? The baggage claim. The second you get to it ---after going through up to 3 long walkways of people movers (again, this airport is massive)---you will see a tv screen telling you where your flight's bags will be. there is no uncertainty and looking all around for it to finally flash on a screen upon arrival. they tell you which flights' bags have already come, and which are pending. i was impressed. usually i avoid checking a bag because of the hassle, but i located my claim right away and my 2 bags came out in minutes.
yes they have free wifi! however, it worked like crap on my phone and I stuck to 3G. cant speak of laptop connection personally but it looks like others have issues. get what you dont pay for.
If you are waiting for your flight at sunset you get to experience the beautiful arizona sky :) probably the only thing i miss about living in the high desert.
