  • Most things grow on me, but Tao will NEVER be one of those things... No matter how many times I go to TAO (most recent visit was on Thursday, 7.29.10), I still, to put it lightly, HATE IT! The layout sucks (stairs everywhere which is a no bueno for clumsy drunktards like myself), it's ALWAYS packed like sardines and it gets so effen HOT that it feels like you're doing bikram yoga standing still. HOWEVER, I'm bumping up my rating to 3 stars for the following reasons: 1) The Music! I love clubs that play Hip Hop and Tao is the only cracking club in Vegas where the main area plays strictly Top 40s and Hip Hop w/o getting ruined by house music being mixed in. (Tao Beach upstairs plays Trance/House and The Lounge downstairs area plays House w/ some Top 40s thrown in). 2) OPEN BAR on Thursdays from 10 PM-11 PM for Ladies (well drinks only). You need to get on the GL for open bar and there are normally promoters lingering around the Venetian or Palazzo to sign you up or you can sign up on their website (7 days in advance). Make sure to check in under GL even if you're a hotel guest b/c you will need a wrist band for the open bar. 3) Free cover for Venetian and Palazzo guests and the line for hotel guests are never more than 10-15 minutes long. (Cover is $20 for girls and $30 for guys.) 4) Drinks has gone down to $13 from $17 for top-shelf liquor. 5) Security was nice and let us sit downstairs in the lounge area. We only had to move if someone booked the table. No one did till 1:30 AM, so we got to chill there until then. If you have only the weekend to party, please don't waste your time at TAO and go to XS, Surrender or Tryst (avoid Thursdays though unless you enjoy Geriatric night) instead. However, if you have 3-4 nights to party OR if you get bottle service (bottles start at $425 w/ a 2 bottle min.) at one of the Sky Boxes overlooking the craziness, then DO IT! Without bottle service, you are highly unlikely to have a good time b/c it gets so crowded that you have nowhere to dance, much less move or breathe. I don't care how drunk you get, there's nothing remotely fun about getting shoved, elbowed, stomped on, or having sweaty bodies rubbing against you. After one visit to Tao, you'll realize the importance of Personal Space and will be willing to shell out $$$$ the next time around for bottle service. And, if you're a group of shy guys getting bottle service, no effort is needed to hollar at girls; the leeches will come flocking in swarms to you and your boys. So beware...
