  • When it comes to nails and nail shops we all want something different. Be it: 1. quick attention paid to ignored nails, 2. creative design, 3. foot and hand care, 4. pretty nails, 5. maintenance polish to make us "presentable". For me, I want foot and hand care and simple, pretty nails. And even though that is not why people love Elan's, they always take good care of me there. They are known for fantastical nail art. I've seen some amazing things come from Jackie and Elan's station. I don't know how experienced other salons are with nail art, but I see those creations coming out of that shop every single time I go. They are always creating and designing there. This is a place you can pop in or make an appointment, but if you are looking for the creative stuff, you need an appt--Jackie is always busy. I see lots of regulars and they know how to attend to customers moving even with a small staff. There are usually three-four people working in the salon. There was one particular incident that made an impression on me. We've all been in a business when an unruly customer has come in stirring things up. Those are some dicey waters to traverse, but I saw first hand how professional and careful Elan Nails was in just such a situation. A woman came in rudely wanting to have her nails done by Jackie and let everyone know she wasn't happy that she was being pawned off on someone else. Even though things were tense, Elan stayed calm and even managed to remain respectful. That incident spoke volumes to me. I didn't see even a hint of exchanged glances and side whispering about the lady. I'm sure they had plenty to say once she'd gone, but they were decent to her while she was there. And by extension, decent to all of us as well. I love watching people handle situations with grace. Even when (maybe especially when) they don't have to. Did I mention that they do a mani/pedi that lasts? This place is great and I am definitely a fan.
