| - I go to the Coffee Plantation once in a while as it's closeby, open late and has free Wi-Fi. The coffee's nothing to write home about, so lately I've been making do with Italian sodas, which thankfully are kind of hard to screw up. The big downside of this place, being in Phoenix, with lots of people hanging out and coffee constantly being made, is that it's too damn hot inside. No AC or fans in evidence. Even at night it can be really uncomfortable. Late fall and winter might be nice, but currently it ain't no fun house. Their choice of pastries is kind of poor - surprising since it's in one of the most hoity-toity malls in the entire Phoenix metro.
But as for the "scene", I usually just see groups of friends sitting around tables talking to one another and hanging out., including, on occasion, large groups of people conversing in sign language. So in that regard, it's great that Coffee Plantation offers a space large enough for groups like that to converge at. There's been no meat marketness that I could pick out whatsoever here, and I've been here dozens of times. Maybe Ken & Barbie have moved to the Starbucks down the street?
