I was excited about trying this place out, but I think I hyped this place up in my mind. Don't get me wrong, the place served decent food, it just didn't blow my mind away. Also if we are being honest, it was pricey...but I guess when you don't have competitors you can take advantage of that. I was very happy to hear from friends that a restaurant had finally opened serving fresh xiao long baos, yay the Midwest is finally catching up with the big cities! The food though was just ok. I felt the filling in the xiao long baos to be a bit too salty. I think I drank at least 3 cups of tea while eating them. The beef rolls were decent, and the beef noodle soup was ok. The beef was tender in the beef noodle soup, but I thought the soup base was nothing memorable. I've also rarely seen broccoli in traditional beef noodle soup, but I'm not really going to complain about that since I do love broccoli...but just a little different from what I've had before? I think I enjoyed the pork over rice dish the best out of everything I tried. In my opinion if they changed the filling of the xiao long baos I would totally come back just to eat those. That would be worth the two hour drive! Yes...when you're desperate you make that sort of crazy effort to fulfill your cravings...and no I'm not preggers...but just imagine if I was?!
