| - I will admit: I have sincerely struggled with how best to prepare this review. There are some situations where adding star ratings simply doesn't provide enough real-life context. Allow me to begin with a timeline.
1. Found a FREE car wash postcard on my new 2015 Mustang Premium after work one day
2. Drove down to the Arizona Auto Wash for my FREE wash the following weekend
3. Was up-sold to a full detail on-site which would include a free ride to and from work
4. Received a free car wash
5. Scheduled my detail appointment including free ride to and from work
6. Received full detail as well as rides to and from work (more on this below)
I have waited until now to provide this review because I thought it only fair to wait out the total service term. I learned during my visits here that Arizona Auto Wash has been around for 20+ years. That's nothing to sneeze at. Now for a basic breakdown.
THINGS I LOVED ABOUT ARIZONA AUTO WASH
- I loved the people. During my first visit, I met Chris. Chris is the young guy who up-sold me to a full detail from a measly free wash! While other reviewers have referred to this salesmanship as "harassing", I understood it to be an expected part of Chris' job. He in no way caused me to feel pressured or threatened. In fact, the only vibe I got from him was that he cared about the work he was doing and sincerely believed in the quality of the service he recommended. I literally witnessed this hard-working young man RUNNING from car to car, from car to office and back, etc. He was working very hard and took his job very seriously. I value this immensely. I later found out that Chris has been with the company for many years (7+ if memory serves...).
- When I brought my car back in, a couple weeks after my first visit, for the full detail, I was fortunate to meet Oscar (I hope I'm spelling that correctly). Oscar was an exceptionally helpful, professional, and qualified individual. He was friendly and gave off a very trustworthy vibe. I learned that he, too, has been with the company for some time - well over 16 years, in fact! His love for the job and the sincere pride he took in his work was evident throughout my entire interaction with him. Once again, I value this highly.
- Arizona Auto Wash offers a FREE WITHIN 5 DAYS Desert Rain Guarantee, which basically means that if it rains within 5 days of your wash, you can come back for a free one. I think that's pretty great.
THINGS I DID NOT LOVE ABOUT ARIZONA AUTO WASH
- After my initial wash, I was surprised to notice that my pretty red calipers were still dark with dust and dirt. This was disappointing to me. I have blacked out rims and the red looks pretty sick when it shows through, but it's hard to tell the calipers are even there when they're dirty. I was disappointed, yes, but didn't make a big deal of it. After all, the wash was free.
- When I arrived for my full detail, I was thankful that Arizona Auto Wash was willing to drive me all the way from Indian Bend to just north of Frank Lloyd Wright for work while they performed the 3-4 hour detail. However, my jaw just about dropped to the floor when they pulled MY OWN CAR around for that ride!
No joke, I drove down from where I live at Raintree and the 101 to Indian Bend. Oscar got in the car with me and I drove us both back UP to Frank Lloyd Wright and the 101. Oscar (a complete stranger to me, by the way) then drove my brand new not-inexpensive muscle car back DOWN to Indian Bend for the detail. When the detail was complete, I received a call and was offered to receive a ride back down to the auto wash (which I obviously needed). When I asked whether they planned to use MY car for that ride, the answer was yes!
*** They were going to drive MY CAR all the way UP from Indian Bend to Frank Lloyd Wright so that I could drive their driver back DOWN to Indian Bend so that I could then drive my own car back UP to work at Frank Lloyd Wright!! UNBELIEVABLE. I was floored by the stupidity of this. I'm sorry guys - this was a bad turn.
- After receiving my newly detailed car, I drove back to work, only to find that Arizona Auto Wash had neglected to put my branded Mustang windshield visor back into the car. This meant now a THIRD trip down to Indian Bend to retrieve it.
IMPORTANT TAKEAWAYS
Arizona Auto Wash, if you're ever reading this, a few things you should know:
1) Keep working hard and loving what you do. It matters, and it shows.
2) Get a freaking company vehicle. After all this time in business, you should know better! I don't want a "courtesy ride" in my own vehicle on my own gas, and I CERTAINLY don't want a complete stranger driving my beautiful car any real distances!
3) Remember the small things. How can I trust the quality of a supposedly meticulous detail when you can't even remember to replace the ONE ITEM I had in my car post-detail?
CONCLUSION
Will I ever return to Arizona Auto Wash? Very likely not. :(
