| - Now, I have a coconut fetish. I would eat something very disgusting if it were covered in coconut. I am obsessed.
Now that I have that out of the way, here is my review for Phipps.
I wanted a coconut cake for Valentine's Day. Not coconut lemon. Just plain coconutty goodness, covered in shredded coconut so it looks hairy. LOL! Surprisingly, coconut cakes are not easy to come by here in Toronto. This is not the American South, after all, but you'd think more people would make them.
First I tried Dufflet. I'm not even going to recount the hassle I went through with them, only to say that I am never going there again. Totally arrogant - that means you, manager of the Yonge St store..
So I went to Phipps, knowing that they have a lemon coconut snowball.
I told them what I wanted - a small coconut cake with coconut inside the cake - don't give me vanilla cake with coconut icing. That's not a proper coconut cake. Put shredded coconut all over the cake. Make it delicious.
Well, holy crap. It was incredible. Not only were they so nice about taking the lemon out of the cake (unlike a certain OTHER bakery), they did exactly what I wanted - put coconut cream or something inside the cake part, 3 layers, all over coconut shreds.
I ate so much I almost barfed. It was that good.
I brought some of it to work the next day (seriously, I can't eat 6000 calories all by myself, can I?) and people thought it was fabulous.
Thank you Phipps!!!! So accommodating and SOOOO delicious!!
