I would never recommend Freedom mortgage to anyone I cared about. They get two stars only because they did get me the Nevada Home Is Possible grant and they closed in a reasonable time. However, the loan officer I worked with was very demeaning, i couldn't get any type of interest rate quote or lock in until I was actually under contract (which in the past I always was locked in), etc. Plus their rate was 4.25 while others were 3.50/3.75. At one point I almost went thru Quicken Loans but, again, the Home is Possible Grant kept me tied to Freedom Mortgage. If I heard it once, I heard it at least 20 times how great of a loan officer he was. I had to bite my tongue and listen to his condescending voice. I made my realtor deal with him most of the time. So I closed and thought, it's done.
A month later I refinanced (I had to take a 5% rate for the grant) to get at 3.63 rate which lowered by payments by $200. Two weeks before I was closing I was notified that Freedom had sold my mortgage. They gave us a payoff good thru July 31. We wired the money 7/29. That should have been the end of it. NOPE. They transferred the loan to US Bank on 8/1. It's been a nightmare to try and get fixed. So now I have two mortgages on my credit report. After two weeks of this Freedom FINALLY returned the money to the title company who is working with US bank to get this paid off.
as I said above, I would never recommend Freedom Mortgage to anyone I cared about.
8/26 Update: The nightmare continues with Freedom Mortgage who has admitted they shouldn't have transferred the loan on 8/1. US Bank won't backdate the payoff and are requiring an additional $848 in interest. I'm now getting past due notices from US Bank. I'm to the point I'll have to pay the interest to protect my credit and then file a small claims with Freedom Mortgage. NEVER will I recommend this company. Next step is file a claim with BBB.
