| - I'm surprised that this spa received such a high rating on Yelp. My husband and I have been to spas all around the world, and each get a massage at least once a month. Having just moved to Toronto from Montreal I was eager to try out Aroma after having read such great things on the internet. I am sad to say that it did not live up to all the hype. This was possibly one of the worst massages I've ever gotten. The facility isn't the greatest. It's clean, but it like a 2 star motel, as oppose to the 5 star spas that I'm use to in Montreal. Originally I booked a one hour aromatherapy massage, followed by a 30 minute reflexology treatment. When I arrived, the masseuse didn't ask me any questions about my previous massage experiences, health concerns, etc. They didn't even require me to fill out a medical history. She also didn't ask me if she could focus on any particular areas and didn't even give me an option to choose my own scents. It was only after I asked her if I could choose the scents that she gave me options. In the end I chose lemon. It smelt disgusting - like a lolly pop and nothing like the rich essential oils and aveda like products that I'm use to. During the massage, she never once asked me about the pressure, and I felt like she wasn't trying very hard. She also didn't advise me to drink a lot of water after the massage. Finally, without saying anything she began to work on my feet. Again, she didn't announce that she was beginning the reflexology and she didn't ask me if there were any particular ailments that I wanted her to work on. I have had many reflexology massages before, so since she didn't say anything, I took the initiative to to instruct her. Once the massage and reflexology treatment was over I looked at my watch and only an hour and 5 minutes had passed when in fact the whole treatment was suppose to be one-hour and thirty minutes. It was only after I said something that she admitted that she had no training in reflexology and they decided to take it off my bill. I can't tell you how disappointed I was! By far the most UNPROFESSIONAL massage I've ever gotten. Their prices are slightly cheaper, but I'd say it's not even worth the discount. The service is horrible and I wont be returning. It's a shame, because my family spends so much on massages a year, and I was hoping to find a new home here, but I guess I'm going to have to continue my search and look elsewhere.
