| - I'm trying to reconcile my bad experience here with all the five star reviews I'm seeing. The one thing I can agree with is the facilities and atmosphere are both very nice. The tea they provide at the end is the absolute best; I even inquired about buying some to take home but they don't sell it.
My star rating, however, is entirely based on the quality of the massage. My view on massages is that they're kind of like pizza: even when they're bad they're good. Not this one though. The pressure was never right, and while normally I'd say it's up to the client to say something, the pressure was so inconsistent that I couldn't make a recommendation to increase or decrease the pressure because it was all over the map. Just not enjoyable. I also added the head and scalp massage. Mistake! The friction between the RMT's hands and my hair resulted in the sensation of having my hair pulled, and the bone crushing pressure she used on my scalp resulted in swelling that left me with a headache for days. I couldn't believe I paid extra for this; while it was happening I would have paid for it to stop.
I also did the hammam. I'm not really sure why I paid for this as it wasn't really that different from a sauna, which as other reviewers note, you have access to by booking here. Should have added gommage, I suppose.
There was also a small hiccup checking out. I was using a WaySpa giftcard which I had provided before the treatment. Apparently the number was recorded wrong, so I had to wait in line behind other patrons to provide it again, then wait for quite awhile again for the card to be verified. Normally in a state of post-massage bliss this wouldn't bother me in the slightest, but I had such a crushing headache from the scalp massage I just desperately wanted to get home and take some Advil.
Bottom line, you can get a much better massage literally anywhere else, and for much cheaper. Wouldn't recommend coming here unless it's for the more unique services offered.
