rev:text	Intrigued by the ads for the Pompeii exhibition, I decided I'd better get to the AZ Science Center before it closed. It took a while to get into the garage and find a parking space (I forgot about the ComicFest) but was pleasantly surprised upon leaving that the Center's validation stamp made parking quite reasonable. The Pompeii exhibit was astounding. Even my 16 year old grandson came away awed. Entrance was timed so there was not always a crowd around each displayed item--allowing you to look, read and photograph. The movie showing the eruption was complete with sound effects, shaking and "vog" that allowed you to "feel" the volcano's eruption. To think that such a sophisticated civilization as Pompeii existed in 79AD is amazing. What can I say, jewelry is my love and the intricacies of the pieces found and on display were amazing. Any of them would look great on me! Exhibits were self explanatory, non-flash photography was allowed and we were all impressed. We set foot in the gift shop which was filled with highly energized grade school groups that were just a little too scary. We turned around and headed out. Two adults (seniors) and my teen grandson cost $82.85. Additional exhibits (i.e. in the Planetarium or the Giant Screen Theatre) range from $8 to $9 each depending on which of the 7 you choose. Want your kid to spend 2 minutes on the SkyRide? Five dollars, please. Obviously, this gets a bit pricey for a family. There is also a Day Pass available if that fits what you plan to do. I'm not sure I would return unless there was a really spectacular special exhibit that caught my eye. However, with only a few days left, I would recommend you go see Pompeii.
