| - I have to honestly say that I have never experienced a negative dental appointment in my life, but this one pretty much traumatized me for life. Fortunately, I have been blessed with beautiful, straight teeth and haven't had to invest much time nor money into them. What was supposed to be just a standard Dental exam and cleaning of $99 was turned into a 2 hour ordeal of upselling me on their preventative dental program package for $299 plus a $25 fluoride treatment. For the full two hours, I felt bombarded with their opinions and suggestion of things were wrong with my teeth, ie: Invisalign straightening, crowns, and other additional treatments that they felt I needed. ~During the time I was stuck in the dental chair, I felt they used that opportunity (when you are most vulnerable) to clearly upsell me on several thousands of dollars of procedures. I just wanted to fly out of that chair and run!!!! When it was finally time to pay my bill, I was placed in another office with a different person to review all of their recommendations for me. ~Mind you, I work in a sales environment, yet had never experienced a, "timeshare presentation" type of approach from a dental office... They were attempting to collect from me nearly $3000 worth of work they felt I needed. If I didn't want to pay for it right now, they offered financing. I started to shake and felt like crying. I have heard of people having bad experiences at the dentist, but it was never in regards to a berating opportunity for their dentist's financial gain.
