This trail use to be a rail and now it is a trail. When I lived in Pittsburgh we use to utilize this trail a few times a week. We would get on in Oakland and then through Greenfield and then follow the "jail trail" downtown and then turn around near the point and then stop off at a downtown restaurant like Phnom Penh before heading back to South Oakland. The only thing that we didn't like is this follows along the highway or major roadway so inhaling smog was not cool. Oh how could I forget... I was almost assaulted by an angry Pittsburgh mother shouting F-bombs at me when I told her this trail is not a place where you go to teach your kid how to ride a bike. It is too busy and youngsters do not have the common sense to look before they abruptly and I **mean abruptly** turn around. I had a couple of crashes in my time due to the pre-k trailblazers. So watch out for young kids! Keep your eyes peeled and your hand on your break or be very careful when you skate around them. I kid you not! Parents take your kids to a church parking lot to teach them how to ride. Not a highly populated trail. This is a really nice trail system. One of the things I enjoyed when we lived in Pittsburgh. Miss it.
