With so many bottle shops on the south side of town these days, I always forget about Brawley's which is probably the original bottle shop in Charlotte.
On my first visit in 3 years, Brawleys has certainly changed. I remember it being a little dark inside but it certainly isn't anymore. With a recent expansion that added a tap system and indoor and outdoor seating, this has turned into a more high end bottle shop.
I visited because I had heard they had one of my favorite Highland beers on tap...the Black Mocha with cocoa nibs, cinnamon, chipotle and vanilla. Mmmm, yum! Then I started looking around at their bottle selection. Not the best selection of beer but they carried several different Cascade sours and Allagash beers at cheaper prices that I've seen elsewhere.
Getting old, and always forgetting to bring in my glasses to read things on the board, it would be nice to have a list of the beers on tap printed out. Video boards are great if people can read them. :). Also it would be nice to have seating at the bar instead of using the underside for keg storage.
But still, I'm not sure why I waited so long for my return trip. Definitely need to keep this on my list of regular watering holes.
