  • We used Dave in September, 2015 during our remodel to wire and install three TV's including one outdoor, install a four zone Sonos system, outdoor rock speakers and a Nest thermostat; integrate everything with our wifi network and put all our hardware in a data closet with RF connectivity. Wonderful job then...very professional and thorough. I contacted Dave a week ago to ask his advice about installing home security cameras, both indoors and out. Dave spent about a half hour on the phone with me, recommending the NEST camera system as it would be compatible with the NEST thermostat he installed and could run from the same app. I wasn't aware the NEST camera was limited in heat exposure to around 105 degrees. Dave explained the camera shouldn't be mounted outside and suggested shooting through a window. He also pointed out how easy the NEST system was to install and that I could do it myself. In researching the NEST on Amazon to order the cameras, I found an outdoor mount made for the NEST that included a heat sink. I recontacted Dave by email and explained what I had found, asked his opinion, and pointed out that I really preferred to have a camera mounted outdoors. I specifically told him I wasn't comfortable routing the wiring through the wall outdoors for the NEST camera and would want him to do the install for us. Less than an hour later, Dave called me and explained the heat sink mount was for camera heat and would actually be worse for the camera in our hot summers. His advice saved me from purchasing a $250 camera that I almost certainly would have destroyed by mounting it outdoors. Dave then spent another half hour explaining another wireless camera option that would work outdoors, could stand the heat, and was completely wireless (battery powered). He answered all of my questions and even allowed me to log into an existing system of his so I could see how the cameras and the app worked. The option had all the functionality I needed, was less expensive, and completely within my ability to install on my own. It was a very elegant solution to my issue, and Dave steered me to it knowing he wasn't going to make a penny. I can't recommend Dave at Amped Sound & Video enough. He is professional, responsive, very knowledgeable and truly cares about his customers. Great guy and great company!
