| - We stayed at the Vdara July 2015, and really enjoyed our stay.
Pros:
1. Customer service. Rose, one of the front desk receptionist, was fantastic. She was incredibly friendly, warm, helpful, without being intrusive. Perfect balance and a great asset to the hotel.
2. Non-smoking. I love that this is non smoking. Our last stay in Vegas had a smokey smell in the hallway, which triggered my allergies every time. So this is a true blessing in Vegas.
3. Location. The Bellagio is literally a hallway away from the lobby, the Aria is a 2-3 minute walk from the front door.
4. Room amenities.
a. Room divisions. I like that our room had a partially divided seating area (couch, chair, desk) from the bed, while also having a separate kitchen area. However, I should note that some rooms are an open floor plan without this. Our original room was open, but we requested one with the partial wall and they were kind enough to switch us.
b. Drawers/storage. There are tons of drawers (3 below TV, 2 each on bedside end tables) and a decent closet, which was also nice.
c. Kitchenette. The fridge and free bottled water was also a huge bonus for us, since surprisingly not all Vegas casinos offer this simple thing.
d. Shades and blackout curtains. There were options for just a shade and blackout curtains, both of which are electronic. (Switches in kitchenette).
Cons (though none are huge)
1. Market/restaurants. They have a small market with some cafe eating options, some beverages, a few Amy's frozen meals, and a few snacks. This store is definitely smaller than many of the other casino shops. There is also a Starbucks, but it closes at 8p Sunday-Thursday, and 10p otherwise. However, super close to the Aria and Bellagio, which do have these.
2. Bathroom quirks. There were a few quirks to the bathroom, which is why I gave Vdara 4 instead of 5 (though if 1/2 stars were an option, it'd be 4.5).
a. Door easily slams. It's a sliding/gliding door, which can easily slam shut. Given that it's 4 feet from the bed, not the best at night or in the morning if someone else is sleeping.
b. Hair dryer was hard to find. There is one drawer to the left of the sink that contained this, but wasn't obvious so we had to call the front desk.
c. Shower head immovable. We couldn't get the shower head's angle to move, and it was a little high for my 5'2" frame. So though a large shower, I had to be pretty close to the front wall/glass to wash my hair.
d. Soaker tub actually has a small base (maybe 2-2.5' long) but then curves upwards. Not a huge deal, but it's slightly deceiving in pictures and could be a little awkward if tall.
