  • I'll start out by saying, if you read nothing else, read this: I ended up having to call the police to force the company to unload my property. I purchased a LivingSocial voucher in early 2016 for four hours of moving services for three men from Carolina Pack 'N' Load in preparation for an upcoming move. I called the company after purchasing the voucher and made the reservation for this past Saturday, being sure to mention the LivingSocial voucher. I then called and reconfirmed the Tuesday before. When the moving company arrived at my house Saturday morning, it instructed me my bill was $290. I reminded the men on site I'd be paying with a LivingSocial voucher. They approved this and began moving my belongings. Upon arriving at my new house, the movers then said "it had run into a problem." The company then instructed me it did not accept LivingSocial vouchers on weekends. It refused to unload my property until I paid an additional $290. It is imperative to note nowhere in the lengthy voucher fine print does it say "invalid on weekends." The company also, conveniently, did not accept credit cards on weekends, nor does it accept checks. Essentially, after already paying $279 for a voucher for services, the company then wanted me to pay $290 in cash on the spot. I called LivingSocial to try and request a refund, but the company was closed on the weekends and was only offering me a refund for site credit. It was at this point I was forced to call Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to order the company to honor the voucher. CMPD instructed me to call my credit card company and cancel the original charge to LivingSocial and then ordered the moving company to accept a new charge of $290 from me. It also should be noted here the moving company attempted to charge me $50 in unauthorized "fuel charges" and another $50 in unauthorized "extra-house fees." When I made the reservation originally, I was told I was paying for the number of hours (four) and not the number of stops. It was only after CMPD ordered the company to waive the fuel fee that the company obliged. I was still forced to withdraw cash and pay the company the extra-house fee even though this was never agreed upon. In fact, I was the told the exact opposite and even signed a contract that stipulated I would pay $99 per hour for every hour after the four hours. I was fully prepared to pay that if our move lasted longer than four hours. Even with the police involvement, the move was completed at exactly four hours. Please, please, please do not do business with this company. It is deceptive, dirty and misleading.
