I love rock and roll, but there's something anti-climactic about this place. I think it's because the format of a "museum" does not adequately represent what rock and roll means to most of us. I think that's why there is no physical Movie Hall of Fame or Actors Hall of Fame - what would they display there and how would it be more interesting than if I watched some movies at home?
They have the usual memorabilia, short documentaries, instruments from rock stars, etc. but it's just not that interesting. Rock and roll is by its very nature anti-establishment and counter-culture. The establishment and grandparents always hated Elvis, The Beatles, Dylan, Nirvana, etc. and now they are enshrined in a building in Cleveland (or all places)?
I left thinking, "So what?" The problem is I can't even really think of improvements or changes they can make to significantly improve this place. That is why I think the issue is just that rock and roll and museum are not compatible.
