My expectations were pretty low when I saw the yellow flags (alternatively flashing "hummus" and "falafal") lining the pavement of the busy Durango stretch that fronts Sababa. Once we walked in, we were greeted by a booming voice and a friendly smile from the guy behind the counter, and a wave from a little man, furiously wiping the table of a foursome just leaving. The behind-the-counter dude looked at us, instantly knowing we had never been to his resto before. "I have the best falafals in the city, my friend" he told my man, as he handed him the perfect piece of falafal -- crunchy on the outside, but a moist inside with the perfect blend of spices. Sababa's hummus is also a treat -- nice consistency, and not too tangy. Yum. Sababa was a great find (once you get passed the yellow flags) on a side of town I don't frequent often. Highly recommend it!
