| - I am a huge fan of Thai food, I wouldn't call myself an expert at all, but I've been to more than enough Thai places (including the other 2 literally steps away) in my lifetime to know that Komol knows their stuff and knows it well. I always compare every Thai restaurant to Komol because it's consistently at the top of my list in best Thai food, and while I do enjoy some of those other places, it's always the food at Komol that holds that special place in my belly.
My personal favorites here (all of which can be made vegan or non-vegan) include Panang Curry, Papaya Salad, Tom-Kha Soup, Daikon Pancakes, and Green Curry Fried Rice. I really, really love that when I do order vegan, I don't have to adjust orders and worry about them not hearing me correctly or being annoyed. It's the one take out place I've frequented that's never messed up my order.
The spice levels (1-10) here that I order are always consistent. Portions are always a reasonable size & prices seem fair considering. Take out here has always been quick/easy to do though I wish they would jump on the trend of app/web ordering.
The only other con I would have is the restaurant itself.. it's very dated and not very aesthetically pleasing, not even in the charming, divey way. I would imagine it looks exactly like a little, old Thai lady's house who hasn't changed anything out in years. I almost always order take out. If I'm taking friends out to eat Thai food, sometimes I'll choose other Thai places because they have a better atmosphere even if the food isn't as great as Komol. I know Komol has been around a very long time, but they don't have to show it like all my wrinkles show my age. While doing some work on myself isn't a bright idea for me personally, it wouldn't hurt the restaurant to get creative and get updated with a few things.
Still, because of how crazy delicious the food is here.. a solid 4.5/5 rounded up to a 5 for me.
