I chose this establishment for dinner in part due to the great Yelp reviews and the proximity to my hotel. When I arrived around 5:45 on a Tuesday evening, the place was pretty empty and I chose to sit in a booth. It was a little dim but furnished in a classy manner with nice artwork on the walls.
I am a huge beet fan so I started out with the beet salad which was delicious. The golden beets were luscious and the arugula was smothered with goat cheese which gave it a nice, creamy texture. There were some accompanying walnuts which added nice crunch but I could not taste any trace of the orange vinaigrette dressing.
Some bread was provided as well which unfortunately was too dry for my taste. A let down after being delighted by the beets. I opted for the pappardelle which was quite tasty. The potion was good sized and the home made pasta was cooked el dente. The marinara sauce was a nice mixture of sweet and savory and the diced carrots added some contrasting texture.
I "checked in" via Yelp and got a free dessert and chose the chocolate lava cake. Although it was free, the cake was very disappointing as the cake was not heated enough (merely lukewarm) and did not ooze the hot lava chocolate that I was anticipating. The ice cream was too light and tasted more of whipped cream than ice cream. It was good enough to finish, but probably the most disappointing chocolate lava cake that I ever had.
Service was decent and good value costing ~ $48.
