  • I came in with high expectations. I wasn't completely let down, but this place certainly didn't live up to the hype. Certain things about this restaurant are amazing. The waitstaff is on-point. They're quick with drinks, friendly, super-high-energy, well-dressed, well-versed on the menu, quick to offer suggestions, and they just go above and beyond to cater to your needs. The atmosphere is great. It's a perfect setting as a pub. It didn't seem as loud as other reviewers were complaining about. Where this place is lacking (and I'm so surprised I'm saying this) was the food. I had the fish and chips. While I appreciated the nod toward Gordon Ramsay's heritage, there's really nothing authentic about the dish aside from the minted mushy peas. They tasted just like my grandma's peas (Which led to an awkward conversation with my dining companion when I accidentally let it slip that they tasted like "her peas"). The fish and chips weren't really like anything I've had in England. The batter was soggy inside/under-cooked, and the chips were potato wedges, also undercooked... And completely bland. They hadn't seen a bit of salt. Other things we tried were excellent, though. The pretzels were great. And the sticky toffee pudding may have been the best thing I've ever put in my mouth in my entire life. Maybe we just got a bad batch for our entrees, but I kind of hold this restaurant to a higher standard than most. Unfair? Maybe. But it could have been better.
