  • love love love this place! pie shack's pies are truly delightful pies - there's a variety of strawberry-cream, rasberry, bumbleberry, blueberry, plus there's savory pies (chicken and beef). the quality of these pies are rich and homemade - plus you can get them a la mode (with ice-cream, additional $2 - not homemade though). the crust is light and flaky with sugar and the fruit is fresh, sweet and tangy. slice of pie is $6 and you can take home a whole pie for $25. the savoury pies are individual sizes at $6 each. by far one of the best pies i've tasted in toronto! the owner tim is super friendly and goes out of his way to make everyone feel comfortable. the coffee's not so great (burnt) but he has a variety of good teas. the ambiance is very country-style cottage. with wooden tables, chairs and board games (plus free wi-fi). good place to hang and relax while indulging in pie-goodness and playing scrabble! there's a dog on the premises too, campbell, he kind of stays out of your way, of the handful of times i've been there i've only seen him once - but i don't know if there should be a dog where food is being served?? not too thrilled about that, no matter how out of sight he is. the space is quite small and gets busy fast....so get in there early in the evening. and i've heard that by sunday evening, most of the pies are gone (boo! hence 4 stars! plus hours of operation tend to vary so calling ahead is always a good idea.) if you're a pie/dessert lover - this pie place is a MUST TRY! it run's around $15 per person if you have one of the beef or chicken pies, which i can never resist, plus pie a la mode and a tea.....i usually split both pies so we end up paying $15 for 2 ppl :) must try: beef pie (moist ground beef with potatoes) and strawberry-cream pie (OMFG fresh strawberries infused with sugar and sour cream!)
