  • Prior to visiting my old stomping grounds in Toronto, I had done some research because this is my first time returning and being old enough to drink. I stumbled across this place and it was touted as awesome and exclusive; I quickly forgot about it and didn't think I'd end up here. Some friends of mine called me up and told me we were going to This Is London on Richmond Street, which is packed with young people from University of Toronto and has dozens of clubs. First thing we realized when we arrived at the entrance is that this place is "guest-list only", but after some schmoozing we finally got in. Fifteen dollar cover is average, but the venue is worth much more than that. Chandeliers everywhere, beautiful and young people roaming around, and relatively cheap (6 CAD) drinks made this place a great time. The first floor is dedicated to electronic music, while the second floor is hip hop--and both of these floors are jam packed with people dancing. The outdoor smoking area is excellent, especially since it feels like you are indoor. And people smoking Spliffs outside? COUNT ME IN! The only downsides? The waitresses, as beautiful as they are, are kinda rude. First of all you can only order from one waitress if you open up a tab (the one that started it for you), and if you try to order from another and your drink is already poured you have to pay cash. Some of the people here are a bit pretentious, but once you start dancing and drinking all of the pretentions melt away. Next time I'm in Toronto, I'll return!
