I was here to see the Dragonette Show for Canadian Music Week.
1. Run don't walk to listen to Dragonette. They're awesome! (and from Toronto. Actually, the lead singer is the daughter of minister Greg Sobara. Cray).
2. Where the hell is the Hoxton?! I actually had to go into the Football Factory and ask where it was and the bartender didn't know! But someone helped me out. It's just SOUTH of King (not Queen). I got it confused.
VIBE
Holy Hipster! If you're looking for your gay BFF ding ding ding! Look no further than what is not a reincarnation of the London, England neighbourhood.
It's very minimalistic in here which makes it a good concert venue. Blonde wooden floors, white walls, a marble bar. Nothing more, nothing less.
As this was a Dragonette show, there was a lot of booty shaking going on here. Fun stuff. Oh, to remember what it was like to be 25.
Quote of the night: "You are NOT 32! What's your secret to aging?" Oh dear...
THE GOODS
Great fun for a small concert but the room is long so it's hard to navigate your way up to the front. A bit of pushing and squeezing is in order.
I stood at the bar to get away from the crowd. I didn't get a drink. You should have seen the look on the bartender's face.
The bartenders here are skinny and good looking. Surprise!
OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK
Great little venue for a concert. Need to go back on a regular night but not really a "clubber" anymore. Clubbing are for seals (NOT).
