| - Unique menu with authentic Lao offerings.
Came here for dinner and it was relatively empty inside. We received the royal treatment here (from the owner herself perhaps). The menu is pretty large with 60+ items, one of my pet-peeves. But that's pretty typical for most Thai places (Lao places being too rare for me to really comment on).
The main dish I consider to be quintessentially Lao, larb (minced meat salad with toasted rice), was of course on the menu. And like an idiot, I neglected to try it. Instead, I went for items that were rare sightings such as the Khao Tod Nam Som, a lettuce wrap based salad with crispy rice and sour pork. This was an easy [A+], though the portion was enormous and I should have had this as my main course. I got it as an appetizer. Whoops.
For the main course, I ordered what is usually an appetizer in Thai places, Som Tam (chili marinated green papaya salad). The version here, which is called Thom Som, came with a meat side so it could be served as an entree. I went with their fried chicken here. The flavor on the marinated papaya was outrageously good. [A+] The fried chicken, however, was very overcooked and nearly rock solid. [C]
However, I think given the generous portions, outstanding service, and unique menu items; that this place deserves 5-stars.
