  • I lived here for a year in 2013. They changed ownership while I was living there. Don't know if it's still the same. I found them on Craigslist and liked the photos I saw. We rented a 2br/1br. We did have to jump through the hoops of getting paychecks and proof of income but it worked out in the end. THE BAD. Their photos on Craigslist looked nicer than it does in person. Once you get there, you see that it is a relatively old place. They do repaint everything and fix everything up but you can tell that the buildings have been around for a while. There is tons of paint everywhere. For example, the door knobs have paint on them. Obviously from years of repainting. I had to change all the door knobs because I didn't like touching the paint. We also had a missing tile in the bathroom but after contacting maintenance, they replaced it. Maintenance does a good job but I absolutely hate that they walk into the apartment with their shoes. One time they left foot prints on the carpet. I contacted them about it and said they'll come and clean it. We had the cheapest 2br apartment that had the kitchen and counter. The kitchen was small. They had the water heater near the fridge and used a closet door as a make shift partition. It was a tight fit to get to the stove and fridge. The kitchen counter was painted over. Cabinets was usable but old. Overall it was clean and worked. Same for the bathroom. Clean, painted over, and works. One big issue with my bathroom is that it didn't have a vent and had a small window. It was prone to mold with all the humidity. The rooms were a decent size. Biggest issue was the windows and heating. During a period of heavy rain, a pool of water leaked through the window. Light rain it was fine. Heating was horrid. The heat was controlled by us which was nice. The living room was fantastically heat but the rooms were freezing due to the small vent. We had to buy electric heaters but only can use one at a time. There is washer and dryers in the basement. Steep stairs to get to it and leaves collects at the bottom of the stairs. It was particularly dangerous during winter as snow collects, melts, and freeze over the stairs. The washers are top loading. I had to use very small loads otherwise it'll tear my clothes. Moving in is a pain. The apartment buildings are at the top of the hill. Which means the closest access is on Tillotson Circle and you have to move all your stuff down and up the steps. It took lots of effort. Walls are thin here. Food delivery here is awful. You can't see the apartments from the street. Lastly, you pay for everything. Heat, water, sewage, trash, electric, gas. It added about another $200 ontop of the rent. We used to be able to hand checks into the front office but now they ask us to mail it in. But good news was that we can set up payments online. THE GOOD. I love, love how peaceful and quiet it is there. I just started nursing school and I felt being in a quiet place really helps. I love that they accept dogs. The neighborhood there is really nice and quiet too. Though I do hate people leave their dog off leash often. Maintenance responded too all of our calls. The lady at the office responds to all of our emails. The office would also take packages for us too if we needed. Upkeep was well done. Everything was always neat and clean. There was a hallway that led to my apartment and my neighbor's. It was great that our packages. One of our windows didn't have a screen on it. We asked maintenance and it was in place by the end of the day. I got all my deposit back. They actually had the wrong forward address for me. Called me to confirm my address and I got my money. My room had a killer view and it faced towards the sun. I get lovely sunlight. I love the area we were in. Close to big stores like Target. Lots of food option. Lots of shopping. Overall, while I had many small issues there, overall I felt my experience and time there was pleasant. STORY TIME. So one time I was studying when I notice people moving slowly from the bottom of the hill up to the top where my building was. They were holding something. Then I realized they were police officers all holding rifles (or shotguns) pointing it towards my building. I quickly went WTF and turn off my lights to watch them. There were about 5 of them and they were moving slowly to the apartment below me. Nothing climatic happened and the cops went on their way after handling their business. Overall, I was happy there. There are some obvious things that they can improve on but I found it livable. I loved the quietness, peacefulness, the trees, and greenery.
