I had this placed bookmarked for a while since I love pupusas. Today I decided to give it a try since they were literally right next to where I was at. The entrance is in the back so go up 15th from Mcdowell and turn into the alley way to get to the back.
I ordered a bunch of pupusas and took them back to where I was at to eat. I ordered multiples of the pork, pork and cheese, cheese and loroco, and one with everything in it. They are incredibly cheap coming in at about $2 each. They come with salsa and a slaw. I like to eat them with everything on top because it really adds to the flavor. I didn't have any of the plain pork ones but my friend said they were really good. The ones I got all had cheese in them and the cheese was really nice and gooey. There was a decent amount of stuffing inside each one, making the stuffing to masa tortilla ratio very equal. I have never heard of loroco before and had to Google it before ordering it, but it is a type of edible flower. I actually think that one was my favorite. It didn't have a super floral taste to it but it was nice to have a fresh component to the pupusa. They chop the flowers up and mix it in well with the cheese. I wish the salsa was spicy. It was extremely mild. I'm not sure if they have anything spicier but that's what they gave me. The slaw was crisp and the sauce on it was good.
I also ordered some flan. I believe it is pre-made and bought from an outside company. The flan was good. I wish there was more of the sauce with the flan but there's nothing the restaurant can do about that since I think they don't make it. The flan was a little thicker and I really liked that. It was pretty creamy.
I would definitely come back for more pupusas!
