| - Today was the second time I've been to Sweet Pete's and I've had the same experience twice now. The selection at this place is pretty limited compared to other bike shops (Broadway Cycle, Brown's) and the shop has a pretty pretentious feel to it (especially if you talk to the staff). I could live with both of those things though if the place wasn't overpriced. For some things, they sell high quality brands you can't find anywhere else in the city, so I think it's acceptable that those things are a bit pricey, even overpriced. However, for many things (locks, water bottle holders, etc) you can find the identical item (brand & model) a few doors down at Broadway Cycle for $5-10 cheaper - and that's just for accessories. Additionally, going back to the limited variety of products, they often only sell the most expensive models from a certain brand. For instance, they sell only the most expensive lines of Kryptonite locks. Yeah, you might be able to secure a bag of gold to a fence with that lock, but chances are it's overkill for your bike.
All in all, I'd only shop here if I had a lot of money to spend and needed everything I bought to be overkill.
