| - While visiting friends who live in Scottsdale, we chose this place because of the reviews I'd read and the fact they'd been wanting to try it. Had a reservation for a Friday night; not at all crowded. We ordered an appetizer of 6 oysters and bottle of wine to start. Wine we selected was one they no longer offered although was still on their list. OK, ordered one the waiter suggested. Apparently they had just received it in a shipment that day and it hadn't been chilled. Perhaps they'd just uncrated it and sent it out. Had to wait while it sat in an ice bucket next to our table. Waiter poured a few minutes later but it wasn't cool enough to enjoy. My friend put ice from her water glass in hers and hubby's. Meanwhile we filled up on focaccia bread which was good. About 15-20 minutes later the oysters finally showed up. Before my friends could get to their second, out come the entrees! Bus person tried to take away the oyster platter w/o asking, probably because he saw the entrees. I had the lobster ravioli (6) which, after eating one, were not hot so I asked for them to be warmed up. The hostess got involved somehow with the waiter, the plate went back to the kitchen, and I had to explain why I'd sent them back. In the meantime my friend ate her scallops which were OK. Her hubby's halibut was overcooked and dry, and the veggies served with it weren't very good either. One thing we all commented on was the huge plate the halibut came on with both items on opposite ends with not even garnish in the middle to cover up the empty space! My so-called lobster ravioli (couldn't even taste the lobster but could taste the cheese) was in an odd oval shaped dish. I suspect the dish itself was the reason the ravioli wasn't hot; maybe the dish itself should have been warmed! Finally out comes a second plate of 6. Again they weren't hot enough but I just didn't want to cause any further problems so I kept quiet when the waiter asked.
Clearly there is a timing problem between the kitchen and the wait staff. As others stated, the food wasn't very good, the portions very small and priced too high for what was served. None of us could understand the delays when there were only people at 4 other tables! Folks should be told immediately that the wine list is being revamped and the listings should be updated quickly--make a quick list on a computer and print a few copies to give people until the formal list is updated. (Hint: invest in a wine chiller--even Safeway has those!) Our server was attentive--all right, almost overbearing--but then there were not a lot of other customers. Still, the kitchen-wait staff need much better coordination. And their prices need to drop or else put a few more bites on the plates--and serve the food at the proper temperature. What a very disappointing experience.
