| - Initially, Troy Moving and Storage, Sofia C, Operations Manager, falsely accused us of being fraudulent in our claim form, based on their own pickup driver's mistakes in writing up the load manifest. Ouch! This moving company lost two stand-up lamps (one a gorgeous wooden one) and 6 boxes of our goods in a move from Ottawa to New Brunswick (where we have our second home), yet did not give satisfaction that they diligently searched for them, which seems to us to encourage dishonesty or theft: they pay a max. 60ยข/lb. for missing goods but because of their $350 deductible, they or their contractor drivers can get away with "losing" 583 lbs. without paying out a penny! That's about 8-9 boxes - approximately how much of our property they "lost".
If this is not true, why did Troy Moving's Sofia C. insist on making it a money claim knowing she would owe us nothing instead of actually locating and returning our goods? It is impossible that our things simply disappeared; they delivered only one of two beautiful stand-up lamps we shipped - how can that be?? If our things never left their smallish warehousing system then obviously they're still in it!! And we would like them back.
There is more to this story: the Operations Manager got us to remove our initial review on Yelp saying: "I promise that I will see what I can do in this case and offer you the best resolution possible." She also wrote, "Once the goods are located, I would have no problem delivering the goods right to you..." Three weeks later, and only after reminding her, she sent us a standard type "we appreciate your business" email with an insultingly low money offer - WITHOUT saying anything about returning our missing goods!!!
That's why this thumbs-down review is back, and this time it is staying.
Online they say they have their own trucks, but that wasn't true. They say Troy employees do the moving, but it's known that moving companies like this pare down costs by hiring contract movers on a per move and per trip basis. The 2 men that loaded for us in Ottawa were independents, not employees.
Stay away from Troy Moving. You could lose your goods without so much as a concern. It's doubtful they're honest or credible. Zero stars (hit one star because I had to under Yelp's review system).
Did I say: this is the first substantive, negative review I recall doing online.
