  • I found this plumber by using the yellow pages. They have a nice website that talks about reasonble prices and getting the job done right. I gave them a call and was not too impressed. I had a clogged pipe from the kitchen sink. I tried using a 25 foot snake, but that only lasted a few days and it got clogged again a bit past the 25 foot mark. I rented a 50 foot snake, and then tried to flush the pipes. The rubber bladder burst, and part of the rubber dropped into the pipes. So now I had a clogged pipe, with a peice of rubber jammed in there somewhere too. So I called Scott's Half-Price PLumbing, am told $120 to come out, and $75 per hour. If he cant get the clog out I would still need to pay. I said okay, and was told some one would call me to get the address, and come out. 3 hours go by and no phone call. So I hit the yellow pages again, and come across anytime plumbing. They offer free estimates. They actually called back within 45 minutes to say some one is on the way. They actually showed up. The anytime plumber told me he may not be able to get the pipes unclogged with out hydro jetting it, but he would give it a try with the 90 foot snake. He also said he would not charge me if he could not get it unclogged. I got lucky and he was able to unclog the pipes with the snake, and not the hydrojet for $250.00. The Scott's Half-Price PLumber had called a few minutes before the anytime plumber showed up. The Scott's Half-Price PLumber bumped his price up to $160 minimum, and was talking like the drain might not be able to be unclogged with out tearing up the foundation of house. He also said if he cant get it done I would still need to pay. I said thanks but some one else is on the way. I dont like the possibility of hiring some one to do a job, and then they may give up and still expect to get paid, even though they did not get the job done. I also do not like waiting for hours just for some one to call to schedule a service call. Now this did happen on a sunday, and I do realize people do take time off on the weekends, or sometimes have other service calls. But it should not take hours just to get the initial call back with an approximate availabilty time. Especially if you are making youreself available 24/7. I would not recomend this plumber. I cant base my opinion on the actual work, but only on the conversation I had on phone, and lack of performance in actually setting up a appointment. Dont waste youre time with these guys. There are better plumbers out there ready to offer reasonable prices and terms, and better performance in getting that appointment thing taken care of.
