Built in 1959, the Welcome To Las Vegas Sign remains one of the most popular landmarks in Las Vegas and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. There's also another less known Vegas sign (Welcome to Fabulous Downtown Las Vegas) located on the opposite end of the Strip, but last month a truck ran over and destroyed the sign (http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/las-vegas/welcome-fabulous-downtown-las-vegas-sign-destroyed-truck).
Parking: Free parking & the parking entrance is facing towards southbound (away from the Strip) of Las Vegas Blvd. You will need to make an U turn if you are driving northbound (driving towards the Strip).
I arrived here fairly early (like 9 AM) and I couldn't believe the long stretch of waiting line I was seeing. There's a guy who will offer a free professional photoshoot service and he actually did a very good job (so I gave him some donation).
I will admit that this is one of those one-and-done tourist destinations, but It is still an iconic sign and I did win some money for the rest of the weekend - so I can't complain here.
