  • This took me a full hour to try to find this place on the University of Calgary campus, I literally had to stop at three outdoor maps and still I had no idea where to go; finally a student explained to me how to get to the MacEwan Ballroom by car. There is underground parking but I was lucky enough to get 1 of maybe 10 parking metres just outside Mac Hall. The Ballroom is inside the MacEwan hall and past the food court and upstairs; I was invited to a bboy/bgirl break, lock and pop break off and I could hear the music and the cheers from the food court and this was mid food court. The space in itself is a great space, there three steps that enter and overlook the hard wooded space. The sessions were already in progress and there was a nice crowd of around 400 people circling the inner centre of the space. There was the DJ table, the host and the three chairs with select judges. The acoustics in here were amazing and within minutes I really got a feel and got right into this intimate event. The place has some windows that view the trees and snow outside. This venue is perfect for larger crowds like this but with a more personal feel. Great space, hard to get to.
