  • I moved into the neighbourhood in the middle of February from a place where no dog parks were near me so I had never gotten my dog any shots as an adult (she never went around other dogs or the park and was mainly an indoor dog.) I moved and decided my dog was going to have a change of life and we were going to walk a lot more and so the dog park thing and socialization and so she needs her shots. Dr. Steed is who I deal with and my chinese crested, Sofie, loves her. She also loves all the front desk staff and their groomer, Kay, is probably her favourite! She hasn't been groomed yet but she will! Dr. Steed was great with Sofie and talked me through all her shots and was very kind and considerate and she really does love animals and shows it. After Sofie's shots she was a little timid because she knew the vet just caused her discomfort with the shots and Dr. Steed crouched down and wouldn't give up until Sofie accepted a treat from her which meant she was okay :) I think this is a sweet touch because lots of vets I've been to with previous pets don't really care and just walk out basically. I just got another chinese crested puppy and the front staff actually helped me get in touch with the breeder since they are patients there and assured me the puppies had been vet checked there and are all healthy before I went and picked one out. The new puppy will be going for her shots with Sofie while she gets her boosters and they booked it in short notice for me no problem :) I like everyone here and so does my dog which is weird because I've never had a pet like anyone at the Vets office lol As for price, I don't have insurance and I don't find it expensive here...I am also used to having large breed dogs which may be more expensive for shots than small dogs but I don't think it breaks the bank. If you purchase an animal you have an option of not having them get their shots or getting their shots- if you can't afford it, don't get a dog? Sickness is different as diagnosis can be expensive with tests and no one gets a puppy expecting that in 5 years it'll need a $3000 surgery...get insurance if you're worried or don't get an animal...complaining about vet prices is silly when you know you'll have to put out money some day if you're an animal parent...all health care, even for people is expensive so take care of your dogs and feed them well and exercise them and hopefully they won't get sick. Wellness care costs less than sick care. Just a thought.
