  • I. LOVE. PORTER. Let me make this clear--I freakin' LOVE Porter. I would never, ever fly Air Canada again if I had the option to go with Porter. You couldn't pay me. Porter are a million times superior in every way--and they are actually usually CHEAPER!!! WTF?? Not complaining, but... is that how a market economy is supposed to work?! Anyway, just had another amazing experience with them. I booked a flight last night to take advantage of one of their 50% off sales, and because I am pregnant and my brain is fried, I booked one of the dates wrong. I called them this morning, and a lovely customer service agent changed the dates and waived the charge. All completely free, and took less than five minutes to fix, even though it was my mistake. Now THAT is exemplary customer service. Seriously, can you ever imagine having that kind of an experience with Air Canada, with its stupid anti-customer rules, arrogant "We don't need your money" attitude and cranky, middle-aged staff?!? No, didn't think so. I've been flying with Porter about three times a year for four years and in all that time have had ONE delayed flight. ONE, out of about 12 flights. Again, please compare Air Canada. Porter's downtown (Billy Bishop) airport in Toronto is so, so easy to get to, and their lounge is great--free wifi, free lattes, free papers, picture windows, comfy chairs. I would happily spend hours there. I wish I was there right now! And once on board you get a FREE beer/wine and snack, no matter how short the flight is!! WHAAAAAAAT. This is what flying USED to be like, back in the good old days. Before all the airlines decided that customers were the enemy and basic comfort was a luxury that should be paid for. Throw into the mix Porter's near-constant sales (and the fact that they are often cheaper than you-know-who, even without the sales), and there just is no comparison.
