  • INITIAL REVIEW 12/17/2015: Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away. If there was an option for zero stars here, that's what I would have selected. This place is set up to rip you off - and makes every effort to do so. Stopped in for an oil change and an inspection certificate. They charge the max allowed @ $30 for the inspection - and as they are permitted to do so, I take no issue with that. However, then they try to tell you your car doesn't pass inspection for items that aren't listed as necessary for the inspection. In my case, I was told (rather ambiguously) "your wiper needs replacing", and "you have a tail light out". Knowing my vehicle as well as I do, I asked to see what they were referencing - clearly something they were not keen to do. Well (1) it was my rear windshield wiper that was "worn", and it is not necessary to even have that functioning to pass inspection. The (2) the "tail light" that was out, was actually 1 of 2 license plate lights that was out - NOT a tail light. In checking the inspection requirements (buyer beware - they must show you this info if you request it), it is required for these light(s) to work to pass inspection - though given I had 1 of 2 lights operating, it was a grey area. At that point they had my vehicle up on the hoist and to have them take it down and then come back with the .50 part installed myself would have cost me another $8-$10 for "re-inspection". The part itself is less than a .50 cost - and they charged me $12 to install it. As for the oil change, they had sent me an email for a $19.99 "special" oil change; my phone battery had died so I didn't have access to that email, and it was like pulling teeth to get them to honor the $19.99 price. Even at that, by the time they add on all their extra "fees" to the price, it's far from a $19.99 special. They also tried to tell me I had an oil leak, and when I asked to see the source of the leak, they pointed to the plug in the pan that they had just removed to change the oil. I park my vehicle in my garage and the garage floor is spotless. There is no leak - and as I change the oil every 3K, at the last oil change nobody mentioned any such leak. I will just return to my consistently good Goodyear Auto Center in future now that I have the inspection out of the way. I get how most of these places are set up to make money not by their oil changes, but by selling you the "extras" in terms of services and parts, and then jacking up the price of everything with their labor costs. But this place conducts business by bald-faced lies and rip offs. What should have cost me about $55max, cost me $80 and that pi**es me off. Like I said, stay far far away. UPDATE 12/21/2018: I heard from Meghan of TreadQuarters headquarters responding to my unhappy review. She was sympathetic, cordial and helpful. My experience had been relayed to "Curtis" who is the marketing & regional manager for this location. Curtis also called me and apologized for the level of service, etc. He asked several questions and we clarified several points (it's important to note that the employees here were NOT rude or disrespectful at all); and it's the apparent misrepresentation of facts that is disarming. Per Curtis, there will be a new inspector at this location soon, and he promised to work with the team there to better manage expectations and up the level of customer service. He seemed genuinely interested in making things right e.g., asked me what he could do for us - and I replied that ensuring others don't leave feeling as we did would suffice. Not sure that we will return....but the call(s) made to us on this matter were sincerely appreciated. Many thanks to Meghan and Curtis for responding.
