| - I finally decided to go to Zhang's after some recommendations from some co-workers, as well as reading reviews here.
Honestly, this is probably one of the best massages that I've ever gotten. Relaxing? Maybe.. for... parts of it. Effective? Deep tissue? Absolutely.
Mary figured out exactly what was wrong with my back without me even telling her that my shoulders/back hurt. She could just tell from feeling it. The combination of ashiatsu, deep tissue, Swedish, Thai, hot stone, and Chinese massages was wonderful. I left feeling aligned, loosened, and overall just great. She put a ton of work and muscle into kneading the knots out of my back, legs, etc.
Prices are very reasonable. 60 minutes was $60 at the time of this writing. And, it was *actually* 60 full minutes, not like a 50-minute hour. Most places are far more expensive or require some shady contract.
There were a few downsides, but none enough to lose a star for me:
1) Its cash-only. They didn't warn me, so I had to go get some cash from an ATM afterwards.
2) The table was a bit short for me. But, I'm a pretty tall guy. The face cutout was also a little tiny for my head - squishing my nose a bit. I'd prefer a different table.
3) As others mentioned, there is a bit of a different attitude towards modesty. I opted to completely disrobe, as I've found most therapists can do a much better job on the glutes (and after doing squats, lunges, deadlifts, rowing, skiing, biking, running, etc I need them to do a good job) with no clothing in the way. Ultimately, I was glad I made that decision, as she was indeed able to massage the hell out of my butt muscles and lower back without obstruction. I was covered in a towel which was displaced as necessary, but it most certainly wasn't always covering all the manbits at all times. Oh well. At the end of the day, I completely didn't care, though, because she was absolutely professional about it and I was in such a state of zen muscular submission that the towel wasn't even necessary. I could see this may bother others, though, so keep that in mind.
4) I called ahead to make an appointment, but I don't think they actually took my name. So, I'm not quite sure how that's supposed to work.
I'll be back, for certain.
