This is easily one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in. It's pretty much everything you could ever want out of a boutique hotel. I also want all of the hotel fixtures in my apartment. Everything is so beautiful. Let's break this down:
ROOMS:
The rooms are new but on the smaller side. If you have a normal queen/king-sized room, the closet is placed at an awkward position at the door that really limits movement. Otherwise, everything is beautifully decorated and in the main part of the room, you have a fair amount of space. The bathroom is also on the smaller side... but that incredible shower makes up for it.
SERVICE:
The service is really what sets William Gray apart (and basically confirms that staying at large chains is completely overpriced and overrated). Everything about this hotel is equivalent to top notch service. Jade is an incredible concierge that made sure my friend and I had the best time. She came through for us with everything - restaurants, spa recommendations, and things to do. I highly recommend you speak with her.
I have to give a shout-out to turn-down service. A Lindt chocolate and water bottle on my bed? Yes. I love it.
LOCATION:
Located right in Vieux Montreal, HWG is at an ideal location (more so for the summer than winter). There are things to do as you walk up and down the water and plenty of solid restaurants. It is slightly frustrating to Uber/cab everywhere you go in the city, but for Montreal, HWG really is in one of the prime locations.
If you're looking for a place to stay in Montreal, look no further than HWG. It's worth every penny and more.
