An old school bakery in the Mont-Royal section of Montreal. By the looks of it you may think simple and no frills, but what they serve is anything but. It is especially known for their namesake the Kouign-Amann. The bakery has an old world feel, there are a couple of tables by the windows where you can enjoy your purchases.
The espresso was hot and strong. The Kouign-Amann is a large pastry that is sliced into wedges. The top was like crispy caramelized sugar and the center were layers of butter and sugar; not fine layers like a croissant, but thick pillowy layers. It was divine. We also had an Almond croissant and it too was delicious.
If you've never had a Kouign-Amann this location is worth seeking out in order to try something new.
