  • I have been going to the Glendale practice for about a year or so, I was seeing Dr. Starr. I liked him, he was through and pleasant Unfortunately he had to retire unexpectedly. When I called to make a follow -up appointment I was made aware that my new Doctor was a man named Dr. Tessler. Now when you make an appointment with this firms its usually anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months out. Would you remember 6 weeks from now that you had an appointment? DO things happen in your life that cause you to have to cancel appointments? Yes you say? Mine also. While scheduling appointments this company uses what I would like to refer to as a Phone bank, basically a bunch of operators in a location to schedule for all the (15 I think) different doctors at their various locations across the valley. I have made several appointments that I have had to cancel due to one circumstance or another, I tell whom ever answers the phone rather that be someone who actually works there or their answering service. I recently re-scheduled and then cancelled an appointment, a few days later I got a letter in the mail charging me a No-Show fee. When I called to re-schedule my appointment I was told that I cannot see my doctor unless I pay this fee and that since I have had 3-no show appointments (which I have called and cancelled any appointment I was unable to make so that is incorrect) my new Doctor, Dr. Tessler is going to discharge me from the practice. I have seen this Dr. one time, he took me off all my medication told me to come back in 6 weeks and see where we are from there. Just like that. we have no rapport, I have spent 10 minutes with him. Him telling me that basically I need to pay a 25.00 fee for an appointment I cancelled or I cannot see him is outrageous. It's not so much the 25.00 its the fact that he feels he is so superior to his patients that he can give them ultimatums? Doe's he think he is the ONLY Rheumatologist in Arizona? I paid the fee and cancelled my appointment. I will be taking my medical needs to a facility that appreciates me and my business, and a Doctor that doesn't have such a superiority complex. If you would have asked me 2 weeks ago would I have recommended this facility I would have said yes. Now that I see how their "policies and procedures" work, I definitely would not. Could you imagine, they mostly deal with the elderly, do they discharge them for missing appointments? I would really like to think not, so either this is a age discrimination thing or this company needs to seriously revamp their telephone system and their customer service skills.
