I haven't gone to a Kmart in at least 20 years... They didn't have any in Houston where I had lived before (maybe long ago?) and honestly I thought they had gone out of business. I was in that area and decided to give it a shot and try Kmart out for the first time as an adult. It's very similar to a Walmart but on a smaller scale and I guess they have their specials.
When I had gone to the store although there were employees at the registers people looked at me but did not greet me once. Nothing says "welcome" like employees that are not friendly and just stare. But I was a person on a mission to grab a couple of items so I began walking around the store. Like I said this was my first time so I didn't know where anything was so I made a big circle initially. I saw quite a few employees through the aisles performing inventory checks but again no one spoke to me at all. Normally I would ask an employee but I didn't get the feeling they wanted to be helpful. I ended up googling what I needed to figure out the isle that it was on. Some of the aisles were extremely tight, such as the beauty section it was so tight that if two carts were coming down one aisle you would really struggle trying to get through. Another aisle was blocked by "stuff" so it was accessible only one way. Logistical nightmare.
Once I made it to the register there were actually really long lines. Only two registers were open with approximately 5 to 6 people in each. I waited patiently in my line. Apparently Kmart has some sort of special program for regular shoppers, where I assume you get points... I wouldn't know because they asked me if I had one but did not offer me one.
Will I ever go back? Likely no. I plan on sticking to the rivers and lakes that I'm used to.
