If your from Hawaii or Japanese American and you hear the "Cal" the reference is never taken for the state. The "Cal" casino in Las Vegas is always fondly known for its hospitality toward Hawaii !! A huge meeting place for old school Japanese from the mainland "Kamaaina's" that you would always know someone's speaking pigeon at the craps tables!! The hotel is not fancy by any means.... even for Vegas downtown standards. Its a local hotel and gathering place with Hawaiin food, Ohana, and friends you have not seen in years. They have a decent steakhouse and the Hawaiian restaurant that serves local favorites and oxtail soup!! The clientele is getting older and older as the kids are headed toward the strip, but this is a great place to relax and gamble. The tables are much more relaxed and there are many $10 tables .... not the $25 min you see on the strip. The feeling is really like it would be in Hawaii, laid back and fun times. It will always have a special place in my heart.... even though downtown seems to be declining every day and the strip is just as magnificent as ever. You can also look for the "Golden Arm statue" a Japanese man (Hawaii?) Stanley Fujitake in 1989 rolled the dice here for over 3 hours!! a record that was held for 20 years!! I wish I could have been on that table that night!!! Well I'll keep trying brah.... hey hooo ....gimme a 10 dollah YOOOOO !!!
