  • I REALLY wanted to give this place 4 stars, but I cannot. My friend & I decided to use our weekly get-together to give Double Helix a try. From everything we looked up, it was right up our alley. Great menu, impressive wine & cocktail list, happy hour specials...in a sophisticated, comfortable atmosphere. When we arrived, it was early evening well before a dinner rush & we were seated right away. The food was awesome, service was knowledgeable & friendly. Here's the rub. It was a Sunday, once football kicked off the music went down & the TV sound went up full blast. We asked if the football commentary was going to but audible for the whole game, our server has to go ask & returned to tell us that yes, on "this night" the game would be on. Here's my gripe. If we wanted to have a football game blasting over the speakers, we would have gone to a sports bar. Unfortunately, it prompted us to get our check & leave. We were really enjoying the food, drink & service but this is not what we signed up for. Maybe we'll try again, off season.
